Supporting Handwriting Session – DCD

Write on Supporting Handwriting Session for children with Dyspraxia / DCD.

Handwriting is one of the most common concerns and difficulties for children with Dyspraxia / DCD. (Developmental Coordination Disorder.)

Developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD), can also be known as dyspraxia, is a condition affecting physical co-ordination. Therefore, it causes a child to perform less well than expected in daily activities for their age.

However, a key difference between DCD and dyspraxia is that DCD is a well-defined and studied condition. Furthermore, there’s no international agreement on a definition for dyspraxia. Additionally there’s also no criteria for diagnosing it.

Our facilitator is Sharon Drew. Sharon Drew is an international trainer. She is a well known author of many practical resources for schools and therapists in the UK.

This informative and fun workshop will offer participants the ability to:

    • First, explore the components for handwriting and its impact on children with Dyspraxia DCD
    • Secondly, consider a range of approaches to assess handwriting
    • Next consider practical solutions to common difficulties
    • Then explore a selection of games and ideas through fun hands on activities to support handwriting development
    • Finally, she offer ideas to develop resources for use in the school setting
